I would like to start by saying that I am not a Dietician or a Nutritionist. I am a Personal Trainer, Conditioning and Corrective Exercise Specialist who, over the years, has developed a passion for nutritious and mouth watering foods from around the world.

To understand this question we need to review some basic information. Blood Pressure is the force with which the blood exerts against the walls of the arteries with every beat of the heart. This force causes the pressure to rise and is called the systolic pressure; or the top number of the blood pressure reading. When the heart relaxes between beats, the pressure in the arteries falls to its lowest number, this is referred to as the diastolic pressure reading; or the bottom number. These pressure readings are measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg).
